anything -- a thing of any kind (vs.) nothing -- no single thing

I don't have anything to eat, so let's go to the market.  (vs.)   We have nothing to eat. Let's go out to dinner.

leave out 'Tommy' in each sentence (to decide on 'her' or 'she'). You would not say 'Her went to the movies.'
